Doctors recognize that mild swelling is due to the normal and necessary increase in the body fluids in pregnancy. Swelling is common particularly late in the day, in warm weather, or after standing or sitting for a long period of time. Most women feel that this swelling disappears overnight. If however this puffiness persists for more than 24 hours at a time, you should notify your doctor. It could be insignificant or if it is accompanied by rapid weight gain, rise in blood pressure, and protein in the urine-it could signal the beginning of preeclampsia which is pregnancy induced hypertension. |

During pregnancy a woman s concern about her health usually doubles, as a new life is developing inside of her. For ensuring a healthy baby, its most essential to watch out what you eat, drink and breathe, as it is passed on to your baby. Some things are good for your baby. Other things, like alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, and some medicines, can be harmful. Baby receives its nutrition through the placenta, which is attached to the baby’s um-bilical cord. The placenta can’t tell the difference between what is good for your baby and what is harmful. So you must make good choices.
