Page 1 of 2 TRAVEL DURING PREGNANCY
Being Pregnant does not mean you have to stop doing things you did before pregnancy, one of the things being traveling. If you follow a few simple guidelines and consult your doctor before travel and he says it's safe, in most cases you can travel until close to your due date .Also consulting the doctor before a long trip or a trip to a far off place can help as ,the doctor can advice on the safest time ,means of travel and also in cases where you need special care. The best time to travel is mid-pregnancy (14–28 weeks of pregnancy). By that time many women are past the morning sickness phase of early pregnancy. During late pregnancy, it's often harder to move around or sit for a long time, due to the weight that you have gained after conception. There also is an increased risk of preterm labor (labor that starts before the end of the 37th week of pregnancy). Women also prefer to travel during mid-pregnancy. Most places are safe to visit during pregnancy. You may need to make special plans, though. If you travel to a higher altitude, you may be short of breath. It will take you a few days to adjust. When choosing how to travel, think about how long the trip will take. The quickest way often is the best. No matter how you travel, take extra steps to ensure your comfort and safety.
